This series, “The Crossing” was born of an effort to document the process of relocating from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast of the continent. The series begins with a ritual release of ocean water, in thanks to Yemoja in preparation for our journey away from one body of water across the Northwest and over the Canadian Rockies to the Atlantic coast. The altar in this image holds pieces of our own ancestral altar combined with objects from the Pacific Ocean. The images in this series utilize the mirror as a point of contact between the subject and surroundings, with the focal point of that spectral apparition being a reflection rather than a distinguishable human face.
Produced in collaboration with In Rapture. Various locations across the Pacific Northwest and Canadian Rockies. July, 2018.
Images from this series were included in the 2019, Shadows group exhibition curated by LoosenArt, at Millepiani in Rome, Italy. They were also featured in the 2018, 215|610 CONTEMPORARY Juried Exhibition of Regional Emerging Artists, at Delaware County Community College, in Media, PA.
